The mobile number portability service that enables users to keep their numbers when changing networks is now available. Smart, Globe, and DITO have laid out their portals and methods for switching networks.
Republic Act No. 11202 (Mobile Number Portability Act) ensures that mobile phone users retain their numbers when they change telco providers or switch from postpaid to prepaid or vice versa.
It should be noted that porting is free of charge. Moreover, it is essential to follow these guidelines before you proceed. Here are some of the requirements:
For internal porting
- An active SIM number
- No outstanding balance (for postpaid users)
- No record of fraudulent activity (not blacklisted)
- No network porting transaction in the last 60 days
For external porting
- An active mobile number
- No outstanding obligation from your existing network (for postpaid users)
- No network porting request in the last 60 days
- No record of fraudulent activity (not blacklisted)
- Not prohibited from porting by NTC or a court of law
- Not part of any bundled service or product
- Not linked to a network-locked device (To learn more about unlocking a device, you may contact your existing service provider)
- No pending request for the transfer of ownership of your subscription
- Not the primary contact number of your multiple accounts
- A valid government-issued ID
- Proof of mobile number ownership (SIM card's Official Receipt with MIN, SIM Bed, PUK Slip)
- Unique Subscriber Code (9-digit code that will be sent by your current network provider to start the porting process. To get your USC, you can contact your telco's respective customer service hotline. USC is valid for only 15 days)
