Genshin Impact 4.0 Update: Release Date, Banners, Events

Genshin Impact 4.0 update is slated for release on August 16, 2023, HoYoverse announced. The latest Genshin Impact version 4.0 patch, titled "As Light Rain Falls Without Reason," brings the new nation Fontaine, three playable characters, new adventures, gameplay modes, stories, new banners, and events with rewards. Highlights of Genshin Impact Version 4.0 "As Light Rain Falls Without Reason":

• Introduction to Fontaine, the Nation of Justice and the hub of culture and art (Prerequisite to visit Fontaine: A Teleport Waypoint to the northeast of the Sumeru desert will be unlocked if completed Mondstadt's Archon Quest Prologue Act III: "Song of the Dragon and Freedom. You can freely explore Fontaine, but Fontaine's Archon Quest will only unlock if you have completed the last Archon Quest, "Caribert," in Sumeru);
• Explore vast landscapes, and experience numerous World Quests and rich stories;
• Dive underwater in certain regions of Fontaine and discover lost areas and mysteries;
• Continuation of the main story with Archon Quests in Fontaine;
• Three new playable characters: Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet;
• Two new bosses with unique attacks and movement.

New Nation: Fontaine

Focalors, the Hydro Archon and God of Justice, now rules Fontaine, which is located northeast of the Sumeru desert. Under her influence, trials have become significant public spectacles at the Opera Epiclese, which also features magic, farce, tragedy, and other forms of entertainment. In addition, the latest chapter of the Archon Quest takes place here, and players will witness a masterful magic performance by Lyney and Lynette as well as a trial in progress.

As a nation surrounded by water, some of Fontaine's regions offer a unique underwater excursion. Due to a special blessing, players do not run out of oxygen when sprinting beneath the surface of the water but instead expend Aquatic Stamina. Further, they will be able to acquire "Recovery Orbs" to restore their Stamina and "Turbulent Bubbles" to increase their speed. Diverse techniques will be used in underwater combat, and it will be possible to absorb the abilities of certain aquatic organisms in order to defend themselves, evade traps, and obtain treasures entangled in seaweed.

New Bosses

The first boss challenge, "Icewind Suite," is a product of Fontaine's renowned clockwork technology and art, and it features a clockwork meka duo that dances. Challengers may select from one of two themes, and the couple will engage in combat using Cryo attacks inspired by figure skating and dance movements.

Regarding the other enemy boss, it resides in an underwater cavern. In addition to possessing the defense ability of an iron crab, the heavily armored Crablord "Emperor of Fire and Iron" can also unleash savage Pyro attacks through its organs.

New Characters: Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet

The new Genshin Impact update will include three new playable characters, Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet, which are siblings.

The eldest, Lyney, is a well-known magician in Fontaine. As a five-star archer, he is capable of performing Pyro magic, transforming into a Grin-Malkin Cat, and launching fireworks in combat.

Lynette, best assistant and younger sister of Lyney, will also enter the game as a four-star Anemo sword-wielding character. During the most recent seasonal event, players with an Adventure Rank of 25 or higher can invite this low-key assistant to their team for free.

Freminet, the youngest sibling, is an exceptional diver who will debut as a four-star Claymore user and is adept at using the fully-pressurized Pers to initiate Cryo and Physical attacks.

New Events

Genshin Impact V4.0 will see the coming of "Mega Meka Melee," "Verdict of Blades," "Relic Records: Creations of the Hydro Nation," "Studies in Light and Shadow: A Fontaine of Enchantment," and other events.

Take part in events to obtain rewards such as Refinement Materials, Primogems, Crown of Insight, and Character EXP Materials.

If you meet the requirements, you'll also be able to invite Bennett and Lynette to your party.

For Version 4.0 Event Wishes, Lyney, Lynette, and Yelan's rerun will be available in the first half, and the latter half will see Zhongli and Tartaglia's reruns as well as Freminet's debut.

More Updates

A number of new functions and features will be implemented to enhance the gaming experience. Global Illumination (GI), motion sensor support (Gyroscope), and quicker loading will further enhance the PlayStation consoles' graphics, controls, and immersion by capitalizing on the sense of time and space. Other enhancements include the multi-layered map and the new backgrounds and animations for Party Setup, which are intended to provide players with useful and engaging adventure details.
