UPDATE: The development team of Farlight 84 has released a new statement regarding the Version 2.0 update.
Following the announcement of the upcoming changes in version 2.0, there has been a lot of discussions and pushback from the community regarding the removal of the jetpack. While our intention has always been to make the game more balanced and enjoyable, reading through the comments have made us realize this change has been too drastic for long-time players and supporters. It is unfair to those who have spent considerable time practicing and mastering the jetpack. This is a serious issue and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this change.Moving forward, we will adjust our future development plans. Here are the specific measures:Firstly, we commit to prioritizing the development of a batch of high-mobility heroes with jetpack-like abilities in the near future. All of you who like the jetpack will have a richer selection than Maggie.Secondly, we will introduce more mobility compensation mechanisms in the game. For example, designing heroes with unique sliding capabilities to give players more room for maneuver. To achieve these goals, the dev team will work hard on a new schedule, and complete the design and production of these heroes more quickly, so they can meet you sooner.Meanwhile, as a gesture of our apology, in addition to the heroes that are already obtained through account progression, all heroes will be made available for FREE (including the existing ones AND the new hero - Freddie, who will be introduced in the next next update).Thank you so much for your support and love for Farlight 84. We will continue to listen to your feedback after the update. Let's keep making Farlight 84 better!
New Map: Sunder Realms
Sak Star, which was once a place of great glory, has now been forgotten. This mysterious alien planet has unique terrains unlike anywhere else. There are unfathomable canyons, a mysterious lab, and an abandoned mining area in ruins. This planet was once prosperous due to its abundant energy, but it eventually fell because of an energy failure. Now, it has become a new arena for all participants to explore. This new arena is called Sunder Realms.
The new Sunder Realms map includes new mechanics: Zipline, Airdrop Rain, and Sponsor Box.
- The new Zipline system is designed to provide faster and more efficient movement across various terrains. This system enables point-to-point transfers to be completed in a breeze while also allowing for quick scaling of high spots. Additionally, players can now fire while on the zipline. Farlight 84 has added more vertical building structures and rock obstacles to the new map, which, combined with the ropes and newly optimized wall run, offers players a lot more height variations to explore.
- Next is the Airdrop Rain. Three airdrops arrive all at once, which means you don't have to be selfish anymore. You can finally get some airdrop items together with your teammates.
- Another new mechanic is the Sponsor Box. It offers valuable resources and experience values to players. Once you start a match, the first Sponsor Box pops up after a couple of minutes, and you'll receive a notification to reach the area. Multiple Sponsor Boxes can appear on the map at the same time. When you enter the designated area, you'll activate the Sponsor Box, which will take some time to materialize. During this period, all players within the area, including your opponents, will receive experience points. The box will also occasionally spit out special rewards. Once the Sponsor Box is fully formed, you can activate it again to open it. Keep in mind that anyone, including your enemies, can activate and open the box at this point. If multiple teams arrive at the location, it can turn into a challenging fight.
Here are the other highlights of the new Farlight 84 map, Sunder Realms.
- The new battle royale map features a more even distribution of key resource areas compared to the previous two maps.
- You will have a wider range of options to choose from for your parachuting destination.
- This update includes a more detailed design from the previous version, which highlighted a blue high-value resource area.
- The new map also includes all-new supply chests that provide shelter when opened in the wild.
New Matchmaking Mode: Trio Mode
Although it may seem like switching from a four-man squad to a three-man squad is a small change, it actually has a big impact on gameplay.
Here are the key differences in gameplay between a three-man and four-man squad in Farlight 84:
- With a three-man squad, the total number of players on the map remains the same, but the number of active teams increases to twenty. This means that there will be one-third more teams in play, so your chances of encountering enemies and engaging in combat will increase significantly.
- With a three-person squad, each teammate becomes even more important. With the introduction of three active hero skills, the impact of a single hero becomes much greater. With fewer teammates, you have more opportunities to showcase your personal talents, and you could even turn the tide of a battle against a full squad if you're the only one left.
- Team coordination is easier with a three-man squad. Communication is more manageable among three people, making it simpler to get everyone on the same page and gather together for team fights. Of course, if you prefer other matchmaking methods, you can still choose those. The choice is yours.
Farlight 84's new matchmaking mode promises a more exciting experience and encourages proactive team strategies.
Updates to Area Conflict Mode
Battle Area Changes: The battlefield has been expanded to a larger area and has more obstacles added to it. This will help solve the issue of players getting killed right at respawn by the winning side due to map balancing problems.
Faction Identification: To better differentiate between allies and enemies, allies' outlines will be made more distinct from the enemy's red outline.
Area Marker: Notifications will be shown for occupation or loss of a location and when one team is close to winning.
Updates to Jetpack
The jetpack in Farlight 84 allows players to fly both vertically and horizontally, as well as boost their wall-running abilities. However, some players expressed concern about the developers potentially discontinuing the jetpack after a Special Announcement video was released at the end of last year.
According to the developers, the jetpack's high mobility compromises the shooting experience, which goes against the essence of a hero shooting game. Therefore, in order to ensure long-term success, the Farlight 84 developers have decided to adjust the design framework. They will be making comprehensive adjustments to hero skills and jetpacks to enhance the weapon experience and make head-on confrontations better.
Most heroes will temporarily retain their horizontal flying ability, and some heroes will receive a completely new design with three unique active skills. Maggie, on the other hand, will retain all of her flying skills and more. Players will soon be able to see how this new design works in the upcoming session.
Here are the specific changes to the jetpack.
In the upcoming updates of the game, the horizontal flying ability of the jetpack will be replaced with a new tactical skill for all heroes. This will give each hero two tactical skills and one ultimate, making a total of three active skills that reflect the unique mechanics of each hero.
The vertical flying function of the jetpack will be reserved for Maggie while climbing and wall-run mechanics will be improved to make the experience smoother. Climbing speed will increase, and wall-running will be smoother and higher. You'll also get some inertia when turning to cancel the wall run, making it easier to move between buildings. The game has added coyote time, which allows you to perform quick moves after leaving a platform.
Previously, each hero had two active skills and two shared movement skills. With the new design framework, each hero will have three distinct active skills, increasing their uniqueness and combination. This will create more head-on confrontations between heroes, making the understanding of heroes and gunplay crucial.
Updates to Heroes
Maggie
The all-new Maggie. She is still the same lively and adorable pizza delivery girl, but she now has a trendy haircut. Even her pizza uniform has become more fashionable, and she looks full of energy. Still, she looks pretty much the same in her other skins.
Moving on to her revamped skills. Maggie now has two tactical skills, "Jet Sweep" and "Jet Leap," which are similar to the original jetpack. In addition to that, her ultimate skill, "Supersonic Surge," can significantly reduce the cooldown time of her skills. With these three skills, Maggie not only retains the functionality of the old design but also emphasizes her high mobility advantage, making her a valuable asset in team combinations.
Watchman
After the latest update, Watchman's new skin was revealed to all Farlight 84 players, and they all agreed that he looked incredibly handsome. He is now fully equipped and looks like a hip-hop star from the future.
Watchman has access to a few tactical skills that can help him in combat. His tactical skill 1, "Sheriff's Patrol," allows him to release a mechanical sheriff that will automatically attack any enemies within range. The sheriff will remain in place until Watchman decides to recall it or change its position. Tactical skill 2, "Sentinel Alert," allows him to release a sentinel drone that will scout the surrounding area. If it detects an enemy, the drone will rush towards it and self-destruct, marking the enemy's position.
Watchman's ultimate skill is "Bite Mode." When he activates this skill, the Sheriff will enter bite mode, gaining an additional missile function and extra armor. By working with the drone, Watchman can gather information about the target area and coordinate attacks with the Sheriff.
Duckyde
Duckyde has two unique tactical skills. Tactical skill 1 is called "Rolling Slam." When using this skill, Duckyde inflates into a ball shape and rolls. The faster he rolls, the higher he can jump. However, note that only when the speed reaches a certain level can Duckball cause damage and knockback enemies. This knockback effect has a cooldown time if applied to the same enemy. Also, if Duckball takes a certain amount of enemy damage, it will automatically revert back to Duckyde form.
Duckyde's tactical skill 2 is called "Full Speed Charge." This skill leaves behind a speed trail that both teammates and enemies can use to get a speed boost. This skill can also be used in Duckball mode.
Finally, Duckyde's ultimate skill is "Summit Crush." With this skill, he can jump forward and smash the enemy. The violent impact will slow down and damage enemies within a certain range. This skill can also be used in Duckball mode, but the angle and performance of the smash will be a bit different.
With these skills, Duckyde becomes a high-mobility vanguard that leads the squad forward.
Beau
Beau has two tactical skills and an ultimate ability that make him a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. His tactical skill 1 is called "Sparks of Love," which allows him to throw a bomb that can stick to any object, including walls, vehicles, summons, and even teammates or enemies. When he activates the skill again, the bomb detonates, dealing damage to all non-friendly units in its range, including Beau himself. This can help Beau escape from a dangerous situation or change the dynamics of the battlefield.
His tactical skill 2 is "Dazzling Mirage," which involves throwing a stun grenade that causes minor damage to enemies in range and a short period of stun effect. This stun effect causes ringing in the ears, shaking visuals, wider bullet spread, and an inability to aim with a scope. It's a powerful stun that can give Beau and his team an advantage in combat.
Finally, Beau's ultimate ability is "Frenzy Bomb." When he activates this skill, he switches to a birdseye view and can select two locations for laser bombing. This skill ignores building structures and deals continuous damage to enemies when it hits. With these skills, Beau can force his enemies out and help his squad regain the advantage.
Syfer
Syfer's new tactical ability is an upgraded version of her previous "Area Recon." Now, after using the skill to locate the enemy's position, Syfer's ult can be released to break their shields. She can then use Coords Shift to move instantly and launch a quick strike. More combinations will be available when the update is released.
Yong
The latest update now allows multiple applications of the "Blinding Mark" to the same target. For instance, if you are marked by Yong, and your vision is affected for a certain period, another Yong from a different team can apply a mark to you again. This will reset and recalculate the time your vision is affected. In Area Conflict mode, the entire team can select Yong and repeatedly apply the "Blinding Mark" to the same individual, causing them to be affected for a longer time.
Ceanna
Ceanna's "Medi-Ex" ultimate has been updated. The drone rescue will no longer be interrupted if the target teammate is moving, making her rescue more effective in more situations.
Sunil
Sunil's "Springboard" can now be deployed on stairs; if thrown at the wrong place, it will recharge some cooldown time.
For All Heroes
Movement speed will become the same. So, their basic stats differ mainly in terms of health.
Upcoming Hero: Freddie
Freddie appears to have a casual and hip-hop style. There might be some intriguing stories and backgrounds behind his mask. As a new hero, Freddie will have two tactical skills and an ultimate when he arrives. However, since he is still under development, Farlight 84 has decided to keep him a bit mysterious for now. They will reveal more about him before his arrival.
Updates to Gunplay
Farlight 84 is focusing on gunplay design this year to enhance the strategy and depth of gameplay. In the upcoming update, the developers will release a comprehensive optimization for all the weapons, which is an important step in improving the shooting experience.
To make it easier for players to get started with the weapons, Farlight 84 is making some enhancements to the experience. Magazine pickup is now better as your weapon will automatically equip the magazine from your bag and fill the expanded magazine's ammo when you pick up a weapon and already have a magazine.
Additionally, your weapon can now auto-switch to another one when all bullets and magazines are exhausted. However, the developers aim to give each type of weapon its unique advantages and scenarios so players can develop a wider range of strategies.
In the next version, the developers are separating the weapon level from the character level, which means your weapon level depends only on the items you loot and has nothing to do with the character's experience values. This change motivates players to look for more weapons. With Airdrop Rain and Sponsor Boxes, players can expect more action and excitement.
New Weapon Resource: Full-Fit Gun
The full-fit gun comes with a full set of blue, purple, and gold mods, excluding the scope. High-level full-fit guns can be looted in Sponsor Boxes and in Airdrops.
Adjustments to Ranked Match
The developers of Farlight 84 have received feedback from players about the game's short season cycles and rank decay logic. Many players have expressed that they lack motivation to climb up the ranks due to this. To provide an example, let's say a player is in the Ace tier. After the season ends, they drop down to the Gold tier. This happens every month.
In the next update, Farlight 84 will introduce changes to this system from four dimensions.
Season Duration
The season cycle of ranked matches in Farlight 84 will be adjusted from 4 weeks to 12 weeks, giving players more time to climb their ranks.
Rank Decay
The rules for decay in the ranked games will be changed. The decay season will be reduced after each season. The lower tiers will not be decayed much, while the higher tiers will be decayed more. For instance, the Bronze to Platinum V tiers will not receive any decay. However, the Legend tier will be decayed up to Diamond I. If high-tier players do not participate in ranked for seven consecutive days, they will start decaying.
Rank Tiers
The developers of Farlight 84 have made some changes to the game's tier system. The Ace tier will now have sub-tiers, and a new major tier called [MYTHIC] will be added. Only the top 300 players from the [LEGEND] tier will be promoted to the [MYTHIC] tier. The lower tiers will now be easier to progress through, while the higher tiers will be more challenging to climb.
Ranked Rewards
The updated reward system is divided into three categories: tier rewards, season rewards, and activity rewards. Tier rewards are earned based on the highest tier you have reached, with a certain activity requirement. On the other hand, season rewards depend solely on the highest tier you have achieved in the current season. Season rewards come with new tier protection and bonus cards that can help you climb the ranks faster. Finally, the active rewards are based on the total number of ranked matches you have played.
In summary, the new Ranked Match system's ranking design can motivate players of Farlight 84 to achieve greater honor by scoring higher.
New Cosmetics
In the latest version of Farlight 84, the developers have introduced a new MR-level item, which is higher than UR. Maggie is the first character to have an MR skin, which can be obtained through the new Lottery Wheel called "Sweet Express." There are also two Lottery Wheel events that will bring out Ember's new SSR skin and Syfer's new UR skin, respectively. Moving on, let's take a look at the new Battle Pass called "Myriad Novo." This pass will feature Yong's new SSR skin. The game has also introduced new features such as Creator Mark, Frame, Profile Frame, and Sticker.
Quality of Life Updates
- Controllers: The controller can now actively interrupt the release of some hero skills, such as Captain and Yong's ultimates.
- Map Interface: Players can now see more comprehensive map-related information about the current match.
- Crosshair on PC: Farlight 84 developers received feedback from players on PC and consoles regarding the large crosshair. They have now adjusted it to be more suitable for larger screen monitors.
- Update on Mobile: Mobile players can now save different layouts for 2, 3, and 4 fingers.
- Package Size: You have the option to download a warm-up map and high-resolution skins, which can decrease the app's size.
The 2.0 update to Farlight 84 will be launched on January 25, 2024. Then, the next 2.1 version update will be scheduled for early March.
