Genshin Impact 3.0 update: Sumeru expansion, new characters, banners, events

HoYoverse has announced that the Genshin Impact 3.0 update is set to release on August 24, 2022. The latest Genshin Impact version 3.0 patch, titled "The Morn a Thousand Roses Brings," brings major updates, including the Sumeru expansion (the fourth nation of Teyvat), Dendro element gameplay (the last piece of the game's seven-element system), new characters, and various events with abundant rewards. Sumeru Expansion

The vast region of Sumeru, located west of Liyue, is divided into two major parts: rainforest and desert. Players will be able to traverse the dense rainforest and multiple settlements nestled within it, including Sumeru City and Port Ormos, upon the expansion's release.

Sumeru, also known as the Nation of Wisdom, is home to the most prestigious historical institution, the Akademiya, which was established by scholars loyal to the previous Archon Dendron, the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata.

Five hundred years ago, when Lesser Lord Kusanali succeeded the previous Dendro Archon, becoming the youngest of The Seven, the Akademiya came to power as the state's governing body, transforming knowledge into a strictly managed resource.

In the Sumeru rainforest, creatures and plants with Dendro characteristics can undergo a variety of polymorphic transformations by interacting with the Hydro, Pyro, and Electro elements.

Monsters can transition between distinct states or attack sequences and produce various drops, whereas certain plants and mushrooms can provide beneficial effects.

However, the humid tropical regions provide ideal habitats for a greater variety of wildlife. To protect their homeland, the Shroom-Kin have evolved into a unique species known as Fungi.

The new boss enemy named Jadeplume Terrorshroom is a fungus with a strong animalistic nature and a territorial disposition. Electro Regisvine, another new Boss enemy, also awaits Travelers in the forest's depths.

Dendro Element

The Dendro element will become playable for the first time alongside a brand-new series of elemental chain reactions. If combined with the Pyro, Hydro, and Electro elements, respectively, the Dendro element can cause three different basic reactions: Burning, Bloom, and Catalyze.

Bloom and Catalyze can evolve into additional reactions during combat. When Dendro and Hydro collide, the Bloom reaction will generate one or more Dendro Cores, dealing Dendro explosion damage over time. If the Dendro Cores come into contact with Pyro or Electro before exploding, they will trigger the Burgeon reaction, increasing their AoE Dendro DMG, or the Hyperbloom reaction, transforming them into Sprawling Shots that can track down nearby monsters.

Catalyze is a Dendro and Electro-based reaction that can apply the Quicken effect to affected enemies and increase their damage taken from the next Dendro or Electro attack by triggering the Spread or Aggravate reaction.

New Characters: Tighnari, Collei, and Dori

Dendro characters will be added to the roster of playable characters. As the Traveler, players have a chance to recruit two Dendro archers at the Statue of the Seven in Sumeru, where they can also unlock the power of Dendro.

The five-star character Tighnari is a young researcher and Forest Watcher with a kind heart. Both his Charged Attack and Elemental Burst can deal damage across multiple phases, making Tighnari an excellent choice for initiating Dendro-based chain reactions.

Collei, Tighnari's pupil, will be joining as a four-star, and for a limited time, players can recruit her for free by completing the Graven Innocence, Genshin Impact version 3.0's main seasonal event.

In addition to Dendro characters, Dori, a four-star Electro support character, will join the game. Dori is an elusive Sumeru merchant who wields a claymore. Using her Elemental Burst, she can help restore HP and energy to nearby allies.

In-Game Updates

With the massive expansion, additional optimizations and gameplay-enhancing features will be implemented. The Boon of the Elder Tree, Ultra-Hot Burner Lamp Test Model, and Fishing Line Stabilizer are three new tools that can be acquired to facilitate wood farming, cooking, and fishing. Colored shadows are also used to add vibrancy to the world of Teyvat.
