Identity V x Death Note crossover event: dates, characters

NetEase Games has officially announced the limited-time crossover event of its 1v4 asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Identity V with the famous anime Death Note from May 27 until June 27.

Players can fight or escape alongside familiar Death Note characters in the mysterious Eurydice Manor as they match wits with their opponents.

Death Note is an anime hit series based on the manga of the same name, serialized in 2003 in the best-selling Japanese comic anthology Weekly Shonen JUMP and sold over 30 million paperback collections in Japan alone. The Death Note's first rule is "Humans whose names are written in the Death Note will die," and it was from this unique plot device that a critically acclaimed international hit was born. After discovering the Death Note, Japanese high school student Light Yagami transforms into his enigmatic alter-ego Kira, dispensing lethal justice to those he deems evil. The battle of wits between Light Yagami and his adversary L, who views Kira's executions as equally evil, is one of the series' highlights.

For this crossover event, the Death Note characters will assist the various Hunters or Survivors in a new take on the life-or-death game that will take place at Eurydice Manor.

In this limited-time crossover event, each character will take on the following roles.

Ryuk: A powerful god of death, boredom is the bane of his existence. The grim reaper decides to drop his Death Note into the human world out of boredom to see what a human might do with such a powerful tool.

Grim reaper Ryuk will take on the role of Identity V's Evil Reptilian.

Light Yagami: He is a serious-minded honor student who is a firm believer of justice, but he begins using Death Note to attempt to create a utopian world free of crime. He then dispenses harsh and fatal justice to all those he perceives to be evil.

Light takes on the persona of The Lawyer from Identity V, and one of the most intriguing aspects of this game is figuring out how he can evade the Hunters on his tail.

L: Considered "the world's greatest detective," L employs his brilliance to solve the world's most perplexing cases one after the other and wields power to control law enforcement organizations worldwide.

In the Manor, L assumes the role of the equally brilliant Prisoner, who must employ a variety of aces to combat the threat posed by the Hunters.

Misa Amane: Model for teen magazines Misa Amane worships Kira for avenging her parents' deaths and uses her Death Note to transform into the Second Kira, conducting covert operations in the service of Light Yagami.

In Identity V, she assumes the role of the Mechanic, utilizing her abilities to influence events taking place within the Manor.

Along with the character costumes, this event will feature various limited-edition accessories, special actions for each character, manor furniture, and graffiti. Special items will also be included, such as Ryuk's apples, Misa Amane's notebook, Light Yagami's pen, and L's handcuffs.

Additionally, the game shop will sell special limited-edition pets Gelus and Rem and crossover accessories such as Misa Amane's Camera. Players can visit the Manor for additional details.

A magnificent mystery-solving event

Even before the crossover event began officially, several event-related rewards for solving mysteries were scattered throughout the game. When a detective character is used to examine a particular apple discovered in the game hall, a flashback to an incident involving this crossover event occurs. Once the event begins, players must attempt to piece together the details surrounding a mysterious heart attack.

Players are immersed in the collaborative world from the start, with special login, multiplayer, and event shop screens, and get to experience this crossover event while discovering, investigating, and solving mysteries. Additionally, players have the chance to get special items such as limited-edition Essences, SSR furniture, and other crossover items.

Even players are not in-game, they can enjoy high-quality videos related to the event on giant LED screens throughout Tokyo and at each Animate location. Moreover, the official Identity V Twitter account is currently hosting the "Let's give an apple to Ryuk!" event. Players must capture apples, particularly those with bites taken out, and upon completion, they will receive a gift code redeemable for a specified bonus gift.
