How To Remove Xiaomi Bloatware Without Root (GUI method)

Xiaomi smartphones are well-known for their attractive features and solid build, all packaged to be sold at affordable prices. However, you may have noticed that they come preloaded with some apps, most of which are uninstallable. In this guide, you will quickly learn how to remove bloatware from your Xiaomi phone. This is a GUI method that requires a computer, so please keep in mind that you do not need to root your phone for this method. It's important to note that the Xiaomi model tested in this method is Xiaomi Mi 9T. Xiaomi frequently releases different builds of MIUI 13 or MIUI 12 for various smartphones, which means that the apps mentioned in this guide may or may not be available. To get started, follow the instructions below.

Requirements

1. A Xiaomi/Redmi/POCO smartphone

2. A PC (Windows, macOS, Linux)

3. A USB cable (Micro USB or USB Type-C, depending on your phone's port)

4. Java SE Development Kit (Download and install)

5. Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools (Download the latest version of XiaomiADBFastbootTools.jar)

Step 1: Enable Developer Option

To enable the developer option of your Xiaomi device, go to the device Settings > About Phone. You will now see your MIUI Version. Tap the MIUI version seven times, and you will receive a popup that says, 'You are now a developer.'

Step 2: Turn on USB Debugging

To turn on the USB Debugging function, go to your device Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options. Find USB debugging and toggle it on. (You will receive security warnings, just accept them.)

Step 3: Enable other Debugging options

Below the USB Debugging, find the Install via USB and USB debugging (Security Settings), enable both of them.

Step 4: Open the .JAR file

Click on XiaomiADBFastbootTools.jar that you've downloaded. Then open it. (Give permissions if it asks). You will see a window like this.

Step 5: Connect your Phone

After the application is launched, connect your phone to the PC via USB. Check your phone as it will ask for authorization with a popup message saying, "Allow USB Debugging?" and tap OK.

The application will then detect your phone. You will see a window like this once it gets detected.

Step 6: Debloating

After connecting your phone, the application will display a list of system apps under the 'Uninstaller' tab. Now, go through all the apps on your phone that you want to delete. Below are some of the MIUI apps that can be safely uninstalled. (Just a reminder, don't uninstall apps that you frequently use.) After you toggle all the checkboxes of the apps you want to remove, click the 'Uninstall' button.

Step 7: Restart

Once the uninstallation process is complete, unplug your USB cable. After that, reboot your device.

Please keep in mind that you will need to repeat this procedure if you reset or update your phone, as these apps are system apps and are located in the core of MIUI.

If you don't want to do the same steps over and over again, you can opt for the 'Disabler' menu of the application. It will just disable the apps, and you can re-enable them anytime with the 'Enabler' menu.
