Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro, were launched on August 29, 2019 during a launch event at Xiaomi's new campus. Redmi Note 8 Pro is the company's first-ever 64-megapixel camera smartphone utilizing the Samsung GW1 64MP sensor, and sports the latest MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. Redmi Note 8 is equipped with 48MP quad camera, 18W fast-charging, and offers the most powerful audio system yet from the Redmi Note series.

Redmi Note 8 introduces a complete upgrade over its predecessor, Redmi Note 7. It offers a 48MP quad camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, enhanced audio features, faster 18W charging and design. In addition to these upgrades, Redmi Note 8 still retains many features that users enjoy, such as USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, and an IR blaster.

Redmi Note 8 Pro is powered by MediaTek Helio G90T processor, an octa-core CPU clocked up to 2.05GHz. Powering the gaming experience is Arm Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU with a max frequency of 800MHz, providing AI power up to 1TMACs. Combining this with the powerful Liquid Cool system, Redmi Note 8 Pro can sustain peak performance for extended periods, so users can game high-speed and hassle-free. Redmi Note 8 Pro sports the latest Samsung 64MP GW1 sensor, equipped with ISOCELL Plus technology and a staggering 64 million pixels. This means the rear camera delivers insanely high-resolution photos for print mediums as tall as 3.26 meters in height. In addition to the 64MP primary camera, the device is equipped with an 8MP ultra-wide lens with a 120° field of view, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor, making it the most versatile Redmi shooter ever.

Redmi Note 8 Pro uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and rear, protecting it from both accidental falls and day-to-day wear and tear. The device is offered in three colors, Mineral Grey, Pearl White and Forest Green. Featuring a large 6.53" FHD+ dot drop display, the screen-to-body ratio of Redmi Note 8 Pro up to 91.4 percent and received low-blue-light eye protection certification by Germany's TÜV Rheinland. Redmi Note 8 Pro builds on the Redmi Note tradition with a massive 4500mAh battery—the series’ largest ever. In order to ensure durability, the entire device of Redmi Note 8 Pro uses IP52 splash-proof technology which offers effective protection against rain and sweat. For photography, the Redmi Note 8 Pro packs a quad-camera setup at the back. The cameras are stacked vertically with three sensors and the rear fingerprint sensor in one module while the fourth sensor is at the right side in the same plane with the LED flash. The quad-camera setup includes an f/1.7 aperture 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 as a primary lens, an ultrawide lens of 8MP, a 2MP macro lens with 2cm focal length and a depth sensor of 2MP. The mains lens that has a large pixel size of 1.6micron can capture high-resolution images of 9248 x 6936 pixels. The Note 8 Pro can shoot 960fps slow-motion videos.

The device gets its power from a 4,500mAh battery that carries support for 18W fast charging. The Note 8 Pro also comes with liquid cooling technology which can be found in popular gaming smartphones. The antennas of the phone are arranged smartly inside the phone so that it does not obstruct signals while holding the device in landscape mode while playing games. You also get a superlinear speaker with smart PA, NFC, IR blaster, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS, USB-C and 3.5mm audio jack onboard. It runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie and features Game Turbo 2.0.
