Android 10 is the upcoming 10th major release of the Android mobile operating system developed by Google. The Android Q OS is still on its beta phase and doesn't have a code name yet, the final stable update is scheduled to be released in third quarter of 2019 (probably August). The main highlights of Android Q updates as seen on Google blog and Android Developer blog are the following:
- Native support for foldable phones
- New gestures
- Dark mode
- New and improved UI customizations with changeable themes, icons and fonts (in Stock Android)
- Allows users to control when apps have permission to see their location: never, only when the app is in use (running), or all the time (when in the background).
- New permissions to access in background photos, video, and audio files
- Built-in screen recorder
- Background apps can no longer jump into the foreground.
- Improved privacy: limited access to non-resettable device identifiers
- Sharing shortcuts, which allow sharing content with a contact directly
- Floating settings panel, that allow changing system settings directly from apps
- Dynamic depth format for photos, which allow changing background blur after taking a photo
- Support for the AV1 video codec, the HDR10+ video format, and the Opus audio codec
- A native MIDI API, allowing interaction with music controllers
- Better support for biometric authentication in apps
- Support for the WPA3 Wi-Fi security protocol
The lineup of devices who received the Android 10 beta update first are the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL devices. To those other Android devices, you can see the list of all expected devices which will receive Android Q update this 2019.

Essential Phone is known in bringing pure Android experience with stock Android OS. Essential is on the Q beta list, so it will be updated-and Essential is basically updated to Android Pie the day after it was released to Pixel phones. We would expect this phone to be updated quickly.

Amidst the Huawei ban controversy, the company says that the following 17 devices are already approved for Android Q and is in the beta program. The update on all these models is expected to be part of the EMUI 10 update.

Xiaomi is serious in bringing Android Q update, as its two devices were listed in the Android Q beta, which is definitely to receive the final update. Its Android One devices were expected to get the update too. Pocophone and range of Xiaomi devices have also been confirmed to receive Android Q.
