Xiaomi has introduced its latest Android interface, MIUI 11, with main theme "new sound and color, efficiency innovation" during the product launch of Mi Pro 9 5G and Mi Mix Alpha on September 24, 2019. This firmware update is based on Android 10 OS which puts emphasis on visual design, dark-mode system, improved always-on display, animations, themes, wallpaper, notification system, fonts, sounds, office and travel apps. This will be a major update from the previous MIUI 10.
MIUI 11 New Features
Dynamic Font System - With MIUI 11's new font called "Milan Pro" and its new dynamic font system, users can now seamlessly adjust the text size to match their preference. To further emphasize important texts, bold text will be more bold.
Ambient display - MIUI 11 new dynamic screen showcases dynamic or moving screen savers to fit the user's style. Users could also create their own personalized text or signature to further fit their style.
Breathing Light Effect Notification Alert - its now easier to know if you have new notifications, MIUI 11 shows a delicate breathing light effect on your screen.
Elemental, Dynamic Alarms - Get new elemental alarm tones (day, night, fire, water, wood, gold, and earth), which are also dynamic - meaning they start quietly, increasing in volume until you turn it off. User may also customize their notification sounds to change during the day, depending on the time, such as bird sounds for daytime and cricket/night worm sounds for the night.
Super Power Saving - MIUI 11 further optimized their power-saving mode to further extend the battery life of user's devices. With only 5% battery life, your phone can still last up to 24 hours. With this mode also, all apps and features except texts and calls will be turned off and the color of the screen will be turned into black and white in order to conserve battery.
Time Album - MIUI 11's gallery app now comes with AI to help sort through your photos. Not only does the AI collate photos by time, but it also recognizes similar photos.
Refreshed icons and smoother animations - With MIUI 11, the icons are expected to get flatter and more minimal compared to MIUI 10. Experience also a system-wide consistency of the visual elements and smoother animations.
Status bar optimizations - MIUI 11 will bring improvement in terms of how MIUI manages icons in the status bar, especially on smartphones with notches. The icons were well-spaced and optimized so that all crucial icons such as headphones, mute, battery and signal strength indicators can be accommodated on a single side of the status bar. Further, the clock was shifted to right too, in line with other Android devices. Lastly, there's also an option to darken the status bar to hide the notch.
Automatic screenshot management - The updated version of MIUI will support automatic deletion of screenshots after they are shared. Users might also get new options to edit screenshots.
System-wide dark theme - This is the most unique feature on MIUI 11. Dark mode is very useful for the eyes and it brings a new look to the device.
MIUI 11 New Office Apps
Mi Work Suite features include:
Xiaomi mutual transmission (Mi Share) - Supported devices of Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo may now transfer files with one another in a convenient and fast way, made possible by Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance. Users could also send files to their laptops similarly.
Super Document (Mi Doc Viewer) - MIUI 11 will have a new file management system where all documents can be accessed in one place. Documents will also have custom thumbnails for ease of access. Along with the new file management system, users will also get a professional document viewer that can handle .pdf, .doc, .ppt, and .xls file formats.
All-round Projection - With more than 300 TVs supported, users may now cast documents, videos, apps, and games easily. Users may also choose what they cast so messages and calls are not mirrored on the TV.
Wireless Printing – Wireless printing is now implemented within MIUI so users don't have to download a separate app for their printer. Currently, MIUI 11 printing is supported by more than 2,000 printers.
To-do list - With MIUI 11 new note system, you can conveniently access gestures to create, organize, and be reminded of daily tasks.
Mi Go feature includes:
Smart Travel - With smart travel, MIUI users can check currency conversion rates, weather data, and make itineraries with ease.
